First of all, thanks for the comments on the subject of lute tablature in a modern edition.
Two more questions on pieces from Vecchi's "Selva" (several voices and lute in some pieces, 1590): - In at least one of the pieces, the lute tablature if read in G is a third too high. Were there any lutes a third lower (in E) at that time in Northern Italy? If not, how does one interpret this? - What to the little dots below certain numbers in the tablature mean? From the musical context, I'd understand them as indications to hold the preceding chord while adding the note in question. Thanks, Dennis To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
