Dear Davide, It certainly does not look like any of the Salzburg Mozarts.
If it depicts a "Mozart Family" in Augsburg, that would be Franz Alois Mozart, Leopold's brother and father of "Die B=E4sle." But he had two daughters and a son that did not survive his first year. So who's the kid playing the violin? It's a rather crude painting, anyway. I'm surprised Jeremy Montagu would use it. Someone with time in a library should check this book: Otto Erich Deutsch, Mozart und seine Welt in zeitgen=F6ssischen Bilder (Kassel, 1961). It's surely the most extensive MozArt iconography. ----- Original Message ----- From: Davide Rebuffa To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ; [email protected] Sent: Thursday, February 02, 2006 1:11 PM Subject: [LUTE] Re: Mozart?
