Ah, the versatility of the grand staff...

In general Dalla Casa seems to say "mandolino" when he means
the instrument with five courses... his tuning chart confirms this.  He
uses the term "mandola" for only one piece, and the low sixth course
would be required for this piece.

That said, there is admittedly at least one spot in a "mandolino" piece
that I can think of where its not exactly clear which "instrument"  
should
play a line... depending on this interpretation a six-course mandolino
could be required.  However, I think there's a good chance that the
accompanying instrument is instead intended to cover the lower notes
in this spot and that he's consistent with his nomenclature.
