It is in the Bach-Gesellschaft Ausgabe, vol. IX, page 43ff. I also have it in
the Kalmus reprint miniature scores, which might still be in print. Try [EMAIL
PROTECTED] (Thompson Edition, agents) You need to ask them, they don't have an
on-line catalogue.

And there are some other "practical" editions, but they might be out-of-print.
One is Peters (No. 236), the other Breitkopf & Haertel (JSB Km 7). Many German
libraries would surely have them. But the BGA's the best bet.

The original(s??) is(are?) available in a published microfiche of Berlin
manuscriopts. Publisher is Saur, and the series started in 1997. There are two
early manuscripts, one from CPE Bach (his hand?) and the "Bueckeburg" Bach (the
lesser known son, Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach).

The order of movements differs slightly in the two versions, although the
transfer from one medium to the other is fairly literal if I recall correctly.

There is indeed a fantasia as first movement that is unknown elsewhere. I
think remaining open is the question whether Bach added it, or is it a Weiss
work which is lost in the lute sources for his music. Possibly an alternate
fantasia is in Wroclaw 2002, page 45. See Tim Crawford's inventory at www.soi
<etcetera>

Many question remain about this work. Did Bach add the violin part (the usual
theory)? Or was it written by Weiss and left out of the lute manuscript? (My
money is on Weiss/Weiss, not Weiss/Bach).

So many questions remain, imho. Someone (not me) is working on them. Stay
tuned.

Has Satoh recorded it?

Subject: [LUTE] BWV 1025 / Weiss Dresden No22

  dear all,
I was looking for the violin part and score of BWV 1025, which uses
Weiss-' Sounata A major No 22 from the Dresden MS. However it seems to be
very rare and not available in all the libraries around, as it is not
included in the Bach-Gesamtausgabe. Is anybody aware of a recent print
or even has the music and could share it with me ?

Related to that: the first movement in Bachs version is a Fantasia,
which is not based on Weiss. Has the harpsichord part been transcribed
  for lute?

  regards
  Walter Durka
