This is a note for all of you, who are undecided. As you all know,
the Lute Society of America is having the LSA Lute Festival 2006, to be
held on the campus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio,
Sunday, 25 June through Friday, 30 June 2006. Please see this link for
details:

It promises to be an exceptional event, and it is an unbelievable
opportunity to have assembled some of the absolutely pre-eminent players
and teachers of our time. One to mention in particular is Toyohiko Satoh,
who is now semi-retired in Japan. Being a fantastic teacher, performer,
and scholar as well, this may be our last time to host him for our event,
so please come to see him. Although he is semi-retired, he continues to do
new, research in performance practices, using very lightly gut strung at
low tension, with astonishing results.

As well, I think it is the first time for Crawford Young to be with us,
and he is one of the best in early renaissance, late medieval lutes. Paul
O'Dette will be back, and he needs no introduction...... he is simply one
of the finest. Bob Barto, the formidable baroque lute virtuoso, will be
certain to wow us all. Ellen Hargis will team up with Paul, for a
breathtaking lute song presentation. Ronn McFarlane will provide us with
some of the most beautiful renaissance playing imaginable, and rumor has it
that he may also present some contemporary lute works.

Pat O'Brien will continue to give us all the most intricate, valuable
lessons about whatever we need in our quest of the lute and its
music. Cathy Liddell is known for beautiful phrasing and performance, and
is genuinely effective as a teacher as well. The Venere Quartet will
continue to provide lovely lute quartets, and they are back by popular
demand. Chirs Morrongiello will kick of the first lectures dedicated to
Pat O'Brien. Earl Christy, a young up coming virtuoso of the baroque lute,
will give us a performance on baroque lute.

It is not too late, so please consider attending this event. It is a
great opportunity for all.
