Dear all, I asked info of a certain piece by Lully. I got good info and also some midi-files. Many thanks! Very useful! But I got something even more useful, which I'll share with you.
One private mail (I do not know if the person will his name be mentioned?) told me that the facsimile of the score is in the comedie/ballet Le Bourgois Gentilhomme, and the score of ALL of the ballet is to be found in http://gallica.bnf.fr/scripts/catalog.php?Fonds=Fonds_Philidor And in this Phillidor collection there are LOTS of Lully pieces! Many complete ballets and other stuff, and as facsimile! The piece in question in that page is no. 38 Le // Bourgois [sic] // Gentil-homme // Comédie-Ballet // Donné par Le Roy a toutte sa Cour // dans le chasteau de Chambord au Mois // D'octobre 1670 // fait par Monsieur de Lully Sur Intendant // de la Musique du Roy et par Le Sieur // Molliere And you just have to select "Télécharger" and in a while you get a ftp-address from where you can download the pdf by your browser. And the "Marche" I asked you about, can be found in original page 109, and pdf-version page 118. You could not have better source than the original one!! Our List is wonderful! Thanks! :) Arto PS1 The theorbo arrangemant seems to be difficult - the highest and lowest note of the melody are quite far off... E minor could work, also D minor as a "stronger" key for theorbo in A. 10-courses seems to be easier also in the original G minor. But it was not in use anymore in the times of the piece... Perhaps the archlute? But I guess it was not common (= not seen?) in baroque France? Perhaps then a single strung archlute... ;-) PS2 If and when Turkey one day joins the EU, that piece could be a great part of the cèrèmonie... :-)) To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
