Been there, done that... (lute + organ + viola da gamba in contunuo).
Well, I played the theorbo, but as far as I understand, there is 
nothing "un-hip" in using the archlute in Buxtehude. And the harmonic 
texture is VERY suitable for lute instruments. 

The piece is wonderful!  (And the text is kind of crazy in modern ears: 
J. is compared to different parts of human body - there is even milk 
coming from the breast of J.!)
