Hi -

This is mainly directed at people who use AOL, but might
be relevant for others in the future..

 - AOL has this feature, where you can mark mail as spam. If
you mark enough mail from someone as spam, all mail from
that person to AOL is blocked. Sounds like a good way to
cut down on spam.

 - one of you may be getting mail from the lute list, and decide
that you don't want that mail... and since you forget
how to get yorself off the list (see the line at the
bottom of this message) you simply mark all mail from the lute list
as spam, and it goes away!

 - and when that happens, *nobody* using AOL gets lute mail.

This has apparently happened with the baroque-lute mail list.
last sunday two messages to the baroque-lute mail list
for all AOL list members were rejected. For privacy reasons
AOL does not tell me who marked the messages as spam, so
I can not remove just that one person's name from the list.

If this continues to happen I will have to remove all
the aol subscribers from the baroque list. If it happens
to the lute list I will have to remove all 23 AOL members
from the lute list as well. If you are an AOL subscriber and
you are not happy with this you can talk to AOL or change
services. I hope that the block goes away after a few
days, but I am prepared for the possibility that it doesn't.

        Wayne
