George Blanford is a physics and astronomy professor at the University of Houston (Texas USA). He may be retired by now. http://nas.cl.uh.edu/blanford/PHYS3032Syllabus.html He is an amateur lutenist who regularly attends the LSA Summer Seminars or Lute Festivals. He appears in pictures here: http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~lsa/old/Cleveland2004/Farewell.html http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~lsa/old/Cleveland2006/FarewellParty.html Back in the 1980's he wrote a DOS program to calculate the proper Pyramid strings for a given lute. It has not been maintained recently. The Pickering MS has no attribution for the piece "Draw Near and Love Me." George Blanford may have done a transcription of it at some point.
