For anyone who is interested, I recently did comparison tests on the audio quality of all the major video hosting sites. The three "winners" are as follows
youtube--the most popular; poor quality. Audio is low res mono, but more people will see it. ifilm--medium quality, stereo audio! stage6--very high quality, the best available, must be able to use DIVX or XVID codecs. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Walvis2007 http://stage6.divx.com/user/Walvis2007/videos/ http://www.ifilm.com/profile/walvis2007/video/2847883 The identical, widescreen format videos were uploaded to all sites. You can clearly see the way the picture and sound are distrted by youtube, but not by stage 6. You can also see the hit counters to see what is popular, in the case, surprisingly, Telemann. The microphones used were chosen for their revealing qualities to show up the differences. dt To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
