To better answer your question, please include the info on the impulse file:
SIR is just the simulator.

For starters, I recommend the small church lexicon impulse at a ratio
of 8-12 percent, with
a decay of 2.4 seconds. The industry standard is closer to 3 seconds,
which I personally find awful, but what can you do.
Lute recordings are often in the range of 3.5 to 4.2 seconds reverb
which is really gilding the lily.

John Buckman and I modelled a bunch of impulses last year, and out of
all of them we preferred the Waves IR
for lute. It is a bit pricey, though. A lexicon 500 is almost as good
and can be used as a digital converter as well.
I mostly use the Lexicon impulses, however, in addition to custom
made impulses from several churches and halls in the Netherlands.

On the last CD I made, I used 7 percent reverb on half of the tracks
at 2.4 seconds simply to even out the differences between the
tracks, half of the tracks have no reverb at all. The reverb is
really not audible. However, the recording was made in a very good acoutic.
You can listen to that CD here for free:

The reason that the tracks needed to be evened out is that in that
space, the larger ensembles move a lot more air than the smaller ones.

The lautenwerk track was not recorded in the hall, it was recorded in
a small room. The room simulator was used to try and minimize the
difference in sound: not completely successful, but better than
nothing, and we were not able to move the instrument into the church.
The church has naturally a 3 second decay.

The lautenwerk, btw, takes a VERY long time to tune :)

You can also make your own impulses based on halls that you like.
