If you sing regularly with lute, get luttes pitched to your voice.
I have a lute & theorbo at 370 and at 392 for me, the mezzos and the 
countertenors.

Transposing is very easy. Write the chord: d minor
Move the letter one letter down (or up): c minor.
That's it! Don't change major to minor :)

For a Dowland song that relies on a lot of counterpoint, it is better 
to write it out, or look at the old Fellowes editions which are pretransposed.
One can also download the ft3 files from Sarge's website and let the 
software do the heavy lifting.
You can also scan the music in using neuratron, but doesn't scan TAB.

If you practice tone transposition every day for a few months, you 
probably will pick it right up.
