It could be so that Hoppy just improvised the prelude. I think we baroque players should try also to improvise our own music - that was the case then. In a way it is "un-authentic" if we only play written music. Of course continuo IS improvising, but why not (try to) improvise also "pieces". Prelude is a good starting point, because it can be whatsoever... An Allemand (etc.) would be trickier, not to speak of fugue.... I am not good in that - only some short prelude sometimes, but I think that shoud be the way to go in playing baroque music!
