Dear Nancy, There are nine pages of tablature, which can be seen on the Yale University website. The music consists of popular English tunes - ballad tunes, masque dances, and the like - together with two pages of psalm accompaniments. A facsimile edition has recently been published by the Lute Society. I think it costs £12 to members.
Although Osborn fb7 is not the Braye Lute Book, both manuscripts were once owned by Lord Braye of Stanford Hall, and both are now at Yale as part of the Osborn collection. The Braye Lute Book is catalogued with other music books, but Osborn fb7 isn't, which is presumably why it was overlooked for so long. Best wishes, Stewart. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy Carlin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Lute Net" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 20, 2007 3:51 AM Subject: [LUTE] Re: Half falls and backfalls > Stewart, > If I've looked up the wrong boook, can you tell me what is in the Osborn > fb7? > Nancy > > > At 04:52 PM 9/19/2007, Stewart McCoy wrote: >>Dear Nancy, >> >>You may be mixing up Osborn fb7 with the Braye Lute Book. >> >>I can't remember off the back of my head, and it's past my bedtime to >>check >>it out, but I doubt whether Matthew Spring mentions Osborn fb7, because >>his >>book was probably published before the manuscript was discovered. >> >>Best wishes, >> >>Stewart McCoy. >> >>----- Original Message ----- >>From: "Nancy Carlin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >>To: <[email protected]> >>Sent: Wednesday, September 19, 2007 10:39 PM >>Subject: [LUTE] Re: half falls and backfalls >> >> >> > I'm a bit curious about this....
