It would be miracle if it did survive-
From Wiki :
In 1631, during the Thirty Years' War, imperial troops stormed the city
and committed a massacre, killing about 20,000 inhabitants and burning the
town in the sack of Magdeburg. The city had withstood a first siege in
1629 by Albrecht von Wallenstein. After the war only a population of 400
remained.

Subject: [LUTE] Magdeburg lute
In 1591, Fynes Moryson visited Magdeburg. He wrote:
" In the Church
that lies neere the market place, there is a Font of great
worth, and a Lute painted with great Art:"
What would the name of the church be? And does it still have its
remarkable lute painting?
Arne Keller.
Thanks for the research! -should have made it myself.
But I am so occupied with Fynes. Good stuff. Go for it!
Arne.
