Stephan
Well that is a strange coincidence because I have just mentionned
Wofgan Emmerich in my mail about the Rauwolf on the question of barring.

Wolfgang Emmerich has had the opportunity to study a number of
Railich, and I was able to put him in contact with Professor Lippi at
http://www.iror.it/
who was selling a Railich, or rather presenting it to the world on
ebay. The details of this lute can be seen at
http://www.liuteria.net/

Wolfgang was able to meet Professor Lippi. I was able to act as a go-
between via mail, as Wolfgang spoke English, but not Italian of
French, and Professor Lippi spoke French but not German or English. I
speak English and French but neither German or Italian.
Wolfgang sent me photos of their meeting and of a copy of the lute
that had been made in Italy.

Wolfgang told me that the Fan-barring on the Railich, he had copied
gave it a great deal of clarity, as well as sustain. This is also the
characteristic that Jakob L. claims for his Rauwolf.
Regards
Anthony
