I find it a little strange too, but everyone's got their reasons for doing what they do. I use a tuner because it's more accurate than my ear. Besides, we're not the only ones to use tuners, Doc. I seem to recall "traditional" Celtic / blues / bluegrass / old-time etc. musicians using them for music created long before tuners were invented.
