I am considering selling it but have no idea how to go about selling a specialist item like a lute, and I have no idea of its current value. I think I paid about Pounds 300 new for it. Can anyone give me any guidelines as to the best way to go about selling this instrument, and how much might be a reasonable sum to ask? I live in Hampshire (UK)

Why not take it to someone who knows about such things, such as a lute maker and get his assessment? You can quote what he says, in broad terms, about what it would take to put it in playable condition. Then put it on eBay (make sure you check WILL ship internationally), put a notification about that here on the Lutenet and at Wayne Cripp's used instrument page and let the market determine the outcome. You could also make a web page to reference from EBay and here which has many pictures and text.
