Dear Lutists,

Returning to the issue of frets, are all the fret-gut availlable today of
the same quality? I'm probably buying from Aquila (as I have been doing
lately) but they wear out very fast.

Also, for an 8 course instrument in g, what would be the avarage gauge for
the first fret? I use 1 mm, then should I go down to 0.9, 0.8, 0.7 and
follow until the last one with 0.7?

It seems that the bigger frets give some falsiness to the tunning (1st and
2nd), because if I press the string a little harder the pich goes up, and
the octaves present some problems too. This happens basically on the 1st and
2ns frets.

Any advice?

Thanks.
