A friend of mine would like to know if anyone knows of an edition of
Handel's /Messiah/ which has the figured bass rather than a
realisation ? He's wanting it for a performance where he'll be
accompanying on theorbo ...
I bought the Baerenreiter pocket score, largely unfigured, but at least
without realisation. Figured it and played from it my first Messiah. It has
rather small print, and many page turns, and after playing it once you sort
of know what's coming, so for the next occasion I copied the figures into a
cello part. Divided the workload, so to speak.
David - feels like playing top 40 when playing Messiah: all those top-hits!
