For me it's the other way round. Breath will always go steady and
uninterrupted. I do not breathe differently. 
So, a courante will be more vivid if I am allegro, or more grave if I am
calm. Being a dance, it will be steady and uninterrupted, nevertheless.

As opposed to that, in a prelude non mesure, peaks of rhythm and harmony
will aim at the ends of draughts of breath, while resolutions will go
along exhaling phases (roughly spoken, and not applying
mathematically).
