Hi,

a number of nice dances written by Santino Garsi were also included by Vincenzo Galilei in his "Libro d'Intavolatura di Liuto". The manuscript didn't make it to print, but is available at the "Biblioteca Centrale Nazionale" in Florence.
S.P.E.S published a fac-simile of it back in 1992.

Hello lutenists,

I wrote about the mysteries of the "Gagliarda della Marquesa di Sala" by Santino Garsi da Parma. Thanks to Arthur and other List members I could make a version that perhaps works? Now it is in three and even the number of bars in sections A and B are "normal": (4+4)+(4+4). And to my hands and ears it doesn't feel/sound strange at all. Link to the pdf is in the expected place:

I happened to find another similiar piece by the help of Victor Coelho's bibliografia of Italian lute mss. of 17th century: Molinaro's 1st book, p. 8-9, "Saltarello del predetto ballo" (of "Balletto detto il Conte Orlando"). It gave some good ideas, too...
