Dear friends,

Writing to let you know about a major solo performance Julian Kytasty has coming up next week Friday. This is one a number of people have requested over the last couple of seasons, a full concert of Julain alone, the old-time bandura, and the songs of the kobzari in the bandura-friendly acoustic space of the Ukrainian Museum’s beautiful central gallery. We are planning to try out some multi-media presentation ideas as well, with projections and possibly supertitles. Hope you can join us for this one, and please pass the word to potentially interested people in the metro NY area.

The Bandura Downtown series presents a tribute to Ukraine’s blind epic singers, the kobzari. Join third-generation bandurist Julian Kytasty for a program encompassing the full spectrum of the kobzar repertoire: ancient epics and laments, humorous burlesques, religious and moralistic songs, sparkling dance tunes, and songs of social commentary.
