Hi David,
I've seen these little wonders in the stores and wondered whether they were were a good/cheap solution. Will it send a video signal into my Mac while a firewire device sends in sound? For that matter would a clip-on USB webcam work as well?
In my viddies, I just used the iSight and the firewire input to bring in digital audio from my external converter. I'd like to get some kind of webcam compatible in this set-up to free me up from using Mrs Smith's macbook. (my old g4 doesn't have a camera).

I don't usually recommend the "bottom end" camcorders, but the The Pure Digital Flip MinoHD is interesting for a number of reasons. First of all, it is cheap, and will be even cheaper. Second, it is great in low light, if you are recording in for example a small room with basic lighting. Third, it is HD, sort of. What is the downside? The downside is that the sound quality is bad. But with the money you save you could get a nice audio recorder. It does NOT have a mic input, you have to record the audio separately. Still, for around $200, a nice little toy. For $600 the Canon HF100 is still the price/performance champ. dt To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
