Hi collective wisdom(?), what are the contemporary opinions of the "tempos" (=tempi) of French baroque dances at the end of the 17th century and at the very beginnings of the 18th? Allemande, courante, sarabande, gigue, gavotte, menuet, passagalia, etc.? As far as I know, there has been very different interpretations of some original advice; differences varying by factor 2!
What is the true truth of today? :-) Arto To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
