All these documents from the past are worth our respect and gratefulness indeed, and who are we, more than three hundred years later, to detemnine that this one is reliable and this one is not...... As far as I know, Mersenne, Mace, Praetorius and quite a few more, are the only direct links with the music of this period and the sensitivity of our forebearers we can rely on, if we take care to read the lines and between the lines as well.
