Lie-Nielsen sells a bar of honing compound that has proven to be a real
time-saver in my shop. Used on a low rpm cotton buff, that stuff will
take a blade sharpened to about 1200 grit to a mirror finish in
seconds. It is subjective, but to me it feels like the blades I sharpen
with this honing compound are sharper than a new scalpel.
