I find it interesting that Thomas Robinson regards divisions as a form of passionate play, or (as I understand it) playing with expression. Tobias Hume talks about playing passionate too. I wonder what other references there are to passionate play, humouring a lesson, or generally playing with expression, and if divisions come into the equation.
