Dear Luca and All,
Munich Ms. 266 is indeed a very important manuscript. For those who are
interested in it, it's worth knowing that the music it contains is not all
in the form of complete and ready to play settings. A number of the works
by Marco Dall'Aquila are incomplete and require reconstruction to make
them intelligible to play. Also many pieces in the manuscript are
unattributed, which means that a degree of stylistic detective work is
needed to determine those likely to be by Dall'Aquila. For the benefit of
those who don't want to devote time to their own reconstructions the works
of Marco Dall'Aquila are being serialised in the Lute Society's 'Lute News'
tablature supplements (edited by myself and John Robinson)and are readily
available from the Lute Society. The series is nearing completion now
and is intended to make tablature only versions of Marco's music available
pending the publication of the anticipated definitive edition of Dall 'Aquila's
works by Arthur Ness.

Best wishes,

Denys
