Yes, actually. I've tried myself some canzone by Willaert / Verdelot
(1536): 
Quando amor e begli occhi
Donna leggiadra e bella
Divini occhi sereni

to name a few. 

I haven't tried myself the songs of Florida by van den Hove (1601) like
Laura celeste, or Basciami mia vita. But I do know they're beautiful.
They need some preparation, though.
 The lute part is not what I'd call easy to play. And the vocal parts
are written the easiest possible way in terms of keys and avoicance of
ledger lines, so that you have to figure out how the lute part fits in.
 E. g. the vocal parts of Laura celeste suggest the key of D. If that is
so, a lute in C would be required.
