I have just written to a friend (who has just been singing Emma
Kirkby's praises, not necessary to me) that I thought this little
programme a 'love letter' to the lute and that the voices of the
participators resonated with humanity - not always to be heard in the
voices of 'experts' (of any persuasion).
I switched off John Williams on that naughty (if immensely attarctive)
upstart, the guitar, to listen.
