To all:
We are pleased to announce that our CD Divine Amarillis: Airs De
Court
1570-1640 has won first place as best album at the 2009 Just Plain
Folks Awards ceremony in the category of Classical Voice/Opera Solo.
We have no idea who nominated us for the award, and are generally
stunned at winning first place when looking at the considerable
competition in this category. Here is what we found on their
website:
Just Plain Folks is the world's largest grassroots music organization
of over 51,500 songwriters, recording artists and music industry
professionals, and host to the world's largest independent music
awards. Just Plain Folks recognizes the other 98% of indie artists
the
world rarely hears. This year the JPF Music Awards received forty-two
thousand albums, and five-hundred-sixty thousand song submissions in
the largest music awards of any kind in world history. The JPF Music
Awards took place in Nashville August 29, 2009 at the Wildhorse
Saloon
in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Classical Voice/Opera Solo category was wide open and we were
really the only early music performers. And there can be no
mistaking
the era of our music since the dates were in the CD title. This
award
really means something for the entire lute world: Our concerted
effort
to reach the mainstream listening audience with passionately
performed
music for voice and lute is working. Hopefully, this means that
audiences will dig a little deeper and more people will discover our
music.
Best wishes,
Ron & Donna
