Ah - the web site has a 'Contribute to the OED' page with a 'New Etymological and Dating Evidence' section: [1]http://www.oed.com/readers/research.html Does someone want to update the OED lute-wise?' Well, the BBC made two series of 'Balderdash and Piffle' about the OED, they were quite fun. And for those who can watch daytime TV in the UK that stalwart old game show 'Countdown' is all about words and numbers and the OED is represented on the the show by the universally cherished Susie Dent, who decides if contestants words, unscrambled from random letters, are acceptable according to the OED - this programme has quite a following. If you think you have good evidence contact the OED. In the end they will decide if the evidence is strong enough. It sounds promising. Karen Hore [2][email protected]
