Dear Lutenists,

My contact at the V & A thought that a petition would not prove
particularly effective in our campaign against the music gallery's
closure, and so I decided not to start one thinking that the press
option was the best way forward.  That said, I note that someone on
Facebook has started a petition independently; in only a couple of
days there are now over 1000 signatures.  See:

I have decided to add my name to this petition, and I would urge
readers of this list to do the same.  Perhaps providing the museum
Directorate with a head count would not be a bad idea after all.
Indeed, the petition (and the comments it contains) is a very powerful
sign of the opposition to this policy decision.

Very best wishes,
Benjamin
