     BTW, from the size, fretting, and style of head, I'd say it's more
     likely an unusually shaped cittern.  Looks like she's using a
  plectrum,
     too.  But, when you get wired, terminology gets confusing.
     I came THIS CLOSE to making an instrument based on that painting a
  long
     time ago.
