Dear baroque lutenists, I am new to the d-minor tuning, as you perhaps know, and I made my first try to arrange something to that. First I must say that this tuning seems to fit _excellently_ to the music of the times this tuning was flourishing! And BTW, the same feel I had years ago about the renaissance tuning fitting so well to the 16th century music. It is funny, how the right strings and frets seem to happen to be just there, where needed!
Well, anyhow, I chose to arrange the Prelude of "Te Deum" by Marc-Antoine Charpentier (actually not even all of the Prelude - only the rondo part). That piece is certainly the most known piece of French baroque in Europe, because it is the theme music of EBU (European Broadcasting Union). And that means that already from 1960's all the EBU broadcasts have started by that piece: especially the Eurovision Song Contests, but also many sport events etc. So it is kind of "Euro-pop" known practically to every European... And I suppose that most, who know the piece, do not have any idea it is French baroque music... You can find links to my tab and (a couple of) example playing (and more) in my page http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/wikla/mus/11_courseLute/ Or if you prefer direct links: written: http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/u/wikla/mus/11_courseLute/CharpTeDePre.pdf played: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEuoLItMIGQ http://www.vimeo.com/9288049 And by "example playing" I do not mean perfect playing! I intention is just to show that it is possible to play my arrangement... ;-) All the best, Arto To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
