Selling a larger lute has a few pitfalls.
In the US, generally speaking, you want to sell it out of state and 
have it picked up, and if the buyer is unknown, payment can be made at pickup.
If the instrument has a provenance, you can sell it in Europe and 
take advantage of the currency rates, but the Euro is low now and 
getting it over there is a bit tricky as well.
Do not accept partial payment at the moment of transfer for any reason.
