I'm forwarding this from Christoph Dalitz about his abctab2ps program. I
use this program as well as Waynes'. It's free, well maintained, and does a
lot of stuff with tab and staff notation, plus multi -part layouts. Has a
good help manual, and Christoph is very responsive to inquiries.

Subject: Tab program for Mac

Dear all,

just saw your discussion about tablature programs for the Mac.

Did you know that the free (GNU GPL) flabc/abctab2ps is available
as an application bundle (universal binary) for MacOS X?
Actually MacOS X is my primary development platform, so you can
be sure that it works smoothly on this platform.

Simply download the application bundle for Flabc from

  http://www.lautengesellschaft.de/cdmm/

install gv and gs through Fink as described here

  http://www.lautengesellschaft.de/cdmm/flabc.html#Q1.1

and all should work smoothly. For examples see the menu
"File/Load Example" and for a detailed description of the input
format see the User's Guide under "Help/Abctab2ps user's guide".

Please feel free to forward this information to the lute list
(but please do not disclose my email address ...).

Have fun,

Christoph Dalitz
