There is no universal player for media that will always work, but as 
a general rule, it is best to use programs like the free VLC player 
for media. QT is pretty buggy.
VLC runs on most platforms--here is the MAC version.

If you are running firefox, which is recommended, install the mozilla 
plugin with the program.
You should not need Streamclip, but it is a reasonably good 
converter, although I believe many Mac users like handbrake. But you 
should just be able to watch it with the right player without converting it.
