I have seen quite a few here in France, and owners do not seem to
   complain.
However, many more do have Kinghams.
There are also those made by Victor Vorko, here in Paris, but I don't
know how good they are, possibly similar to Kinghams. They are made out
of flight ply-wood and weigh 2K5 max for a ten course lute.

On the other hand, it seems the best and strongest for flight cases are
those made somewhere in Norfolk out of carbon composite. (the same
case-type used as a sledge in James Bond film, along with a Strad
   Cello, I understand).
There are ultra light ones from Japan, that have also been spoken
about, here, but which are not so resistant.
My complaint with Kingham is that they don't stand up well to contact
   with humidity.
The vinyl begins to unglue, and they are not that water proof. They
used to sell an optional envelope that reflected the sun, and protected
from rain, but they no longer do that.
I bought a -L-200 Hiscox cello case for my daughter, and it struck me
that it was far better, but then there are so many standard size
cellos, which no doubt brings the price down.
My advice for a Kingham, is to buy a grey one. They look far better
(rather good actually), and do reflect the sun to a certain extent.
   Regards
   Anthony
