Thank you - interesting article. It will make my beginning continuo
student very happy :-)
I was surprised by Hill's statement that the % sign is an indication to
strum with the thumb. I assume he was simply unfamiliar with the "p-i-m-i"
explanation in the Kapsperger and Piccinini prefaces, but is it possible that
there are other sources using this cipher to represent a strum? Is there
something in HK's Libro primo d'arie? (I've seen the book, but don't have it.)
