I'm pretty sure these are available in the UK to absorb damp in caravans.

It comes as a kit. Usually it is a rectangular plastic container, with a
clip-on lid. This is slotted, or has holes to allow in the surrounding air.

It comes with a packet of crystals, which looks more like white salt. The
contents are emptied into the container which is then placed on a ledge
somewhere in the caravan where damp is suspected. Best take it out before
towing to a new site!

Yes, it does turn to a clear liquid, which I guess is mostly water.

Best Wishes

   One and all

I have seen discussed many materials/products used for providing a more
friendly atmosphere for instruments.A substance worth trying might be
the crystals one can buy at garden shops, hardware stores in some
countries, at least in Australia, for placing in potplants to slowly
release moisture. It is a synthetic polymer which absorbs approx 100
times its weight in water and very slowly releases it, I had approx.
2grammes absorb 200ml water sitting on a bench inside our house temt.
range18-36 deg.C and it took about a month to revert back to crystals
the appearance of brown sugar Regards Tom.
