Hi everyone, I have been convinced that my best choice for a student lute is to buy one rather than build a kit. This was great advice. My interest has been cast on the JM student lute but the price is just a little out of my range right now, esp. since I have never played a lute and don't know how I will take to it. I would really love to buy the JM lute and still might try. In the Lute Page for sale section there is a 7 course renaissance lute by Paul Klemm for $ 900 USD (including case). I have not been able to find any information on Mr. Klemm. Now I realize that this will be different from a lute built by one of the well known builders but can people comment on Mr. Klemm and his lute as a first lute for an absolute beginner to strings? Any help is appreciated. Oody -- It is better to light a candle than curse the darkness. Chinese Proverb
