I found this rather funny, in the light of our recent discussion about
contemporary music for the lute.
Now I know what I have to do - just play Francesco da Milano backwards

De Nederlandse componist Jozef Van Wissem bespeelt een onalledaags
instrument in de wereld van hedendaagse muziek; de renaissance- en
barokluit. Hij slaagt erin om een brug te bouwen tussen 17de-eeuwse
luitmuziek en 21ste-eeuwse minimalisme en improvisatie. Hoewel hij soms
gebruik maakt van subtiele elektronische manipulatie, blijft hij toch
trouw aan het specifieke timbre, resonantie en techniek van de luit.
Hij benadert renaissance luitmuziek op een radicaal conceptuele wijze:
hij deconstrueert bestaande composities, door ze achterstevoren te
spelen. Daarnaast componeert hij zelf stukken volgens principes uit de
dodecafonie; palindromen en gespiegelde structuren. De stukken hebben
daardoor geen traditioneel lineaire verloop en spanningsopbouw, ze
drijven op een intense, nooit aflatende spanning.
Van Wissem was twee keer te gast in het TV programma 'Vrije Geluiden',
deed talloze radio sessies en geeft zo'n 80 concerten per jaar over de
hele wereld. Ook geeft hij lezingen op universiteiten over de
'bevrijding van de luit', zo doceerde hij op Harvard, Mills College en
Wesleyan University. Hij studeerde Renaissance en Barok luit in New
York met Pat O'Brien. Van Wissem heeft meerdere opdrachten ontvangen en
maakte diverse CD/Lp's (o.a. met Gary Lucas, James Blackshaw en Maurizo
Bianchi. Zijn werk werd talloze malen lovend besproken in gerenommeerde

Hello... I'd like to attract your attention to the following:
Jozef Van Wissem (NL)
The Dutch composer Jozef Van Wissem plays an unusual instrument in the
world of contemporary music, Renaissance and Baroque lute. He manages
to build a bridge between 17th-century lute music and 21th-century
minimalism and improvisation. Although he sometimes uses subtle
electronic manipulation, he remains faithful to the particular timbre,
resonance and technique of the lute. He approaches renaissance lute
music on a radical conceptual way: he deconstructs existing
compositions, playing them backwards. In addition, he composes pieces
according to principles of dodecaphony (serialism), Palindromes and
mirrored structures. The pieces have traditionally linear course and
therefore no tension, they float on an intense, never-ending
excitement.
Van Wissem was twice a guest in the TV show 'Vrije Geluiden', did
countless radio sessions and playes about 80 concerts a year worldwide.
He also gives lectures at universities around the "liberation of the
lute 'as he taught at Harvard, Mills College and Wesleyan University.
He studied Renaissance and Baroque lute with Pat O'Brien in New York.
Wissem has received multiple orders and made several CD's/LP's
(including recordings with Gary Lucas, James Blackshaw and Maurizo
Bianchi. His work has been repeatedly acclaimed in renowned journals.
