To amplify on the response by Grzegorz, the Lautenweltadressbuch lists 27
historical lutes in Leipzig and a total of 22 in three different public
collections in Munich. In Vienna there are 27 in the Kunsthistorisches Museum
and in Nürnberg 27 or 28. Of course many of the historical instruments are
fragmentary or in poor condition, so they are not on display. Contact the
museums in advance to find out which of their instruments are on display and
ask whether you might have access to others that are not. Don't forget to spend
some time enjoying Prague itself. It is an outstandingly beautiful city! Daniel

Hi,

I think that besides the collection of musical instruments in the Germanisches
National Museum in Nurnberg there is also very interesting collection in
Leipzig Grassimuseum. There are e.g. lutes and even the lute case with the
initial of *JSW / 1732* (Johann Sigismund Weiss) and apart from lutes there is
also famous red piano by B. Cristofori.
