Hello, lutenist friends!
This is a quick note to mention a new CD entitled `The Bach/Weiss Sonata.' This is a very personal project of repertoire I've been working on with my wife (Baroque violinist Genevieve Gilardeau) over the last few years. The recording features BWV 1025, J.S. Bach's Trio in A major which as many of you know is a reworking of a sonata for lute by Sylvius Leopold Weiss. The work is here performed as a duo for violin and lute alongside other works by Bach & Weiss, as well as a sonata for lute & violin by J.B. Hagen. The disc closes with my favourite Weiss Chaconne which I added a violin part to, trying to follow the procedure that Bach used in BWV 1025. You can order copies of the recording directly from us. Members of any lute society are entitled to the special price of $15 per disc (this includes shipping for those in Canada & the USA, others please add $3). Here is a link to the cdbaby page where you can read program notes & bios, listen to samples, download mp3s, and purchase the CD: [1]http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/genevievegilardeaulucash Thanks, and our best wishes to all of you for a fantastic 2012!
