   I don't have notes on this possible mandora instrument. 9 course
   mandoras are certainly known - although not as early as 1730. Is there
   any further information/photos of the instrument?

   Incidentally, what would be even more interesting was if there were any
   fragments of old strings still on the instruments - are you aware of
   any?
