The collection in Kremsmuenster in fact is quite fantastic.
It includes 6 original lutes, that are probably untouched after the mid of the 18th century. Some are currently in a pretty bad constitution.

But the problem is, that they cannot be viewed easily, as the lute are stored within the closed part of the monastery.

It is also possible that the lutes at the moment are travelling to Nuremberg as they soon will be researched and shall be restored. We hope that the abbey will afterwards give them a place, where they can be viewed.

Best regards
Markus

I will be in Austria, and am thinking of traveling to Kremsmünster to see the
lute collection at the Benediktinerstift. Has anyone seen the collection, and
would it be worth the trip? Also, Are there any other lute collections in the
are worth visiting. I have already seen the museum lute collections in Munich.
Thanks in advance. try
