Hi Stuart. I don't recognize either melody.
Of the Rose bush -- second system, 6th note -- I would read that as a mid staff A rather than the higher F in the print. I don't see either mentioned with these titles in Simpson's "The Broadside Ballad". I used dissertation (on microfiche in the Hague) which catalogued all (or most) of English dancing tunes and indexed them by the opening measure intervals, then giving meter and key. Handy for your type of question. What is the source of these? Best wishes. -- R On Feb 26, 2013, at 12:28 PM, WALSH STUART wrote: > an image of the tunes: > > http://www.pluckedturkeys.co.uk/2tunes.jpg > > > how they might sound: > > http://www.pluckedturkeys.co.uk/2tunes.wmv > > > I've been told that Jeremy Barlow (who has edited all the Playford tunes) > doesn't know of any other versions of these tunes than these! > > > > Stuart > > > > To get on or off this list see list information at > http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
