We are pleased to announce that our recording of music from Dowland's A Pilgrimes Solace will be released on April 1st. You can check out our description [1]here or, if you are interested in digital only, [2]go directly to our Bandcamp page to hear some samples and order. Not to deflect attention away from our Dowland recording, but we would also like to draw your attention to [3]our new offering of mp3 singles. Bandcamp allows you to hear the entire track and enables you to download a variety of digital formats. Featured is a track that was recorded for our CD, [4]Sfumato, but omitted in the end because we had too much material. The song is the Italian madrigal, Quand' io pens' al martire, with text by Pietro Bembo (1470 - 1547) in a four-part musical setting by Jacques Arcadelt (c.1507 - 1568). Our unique arrangement for solo voice and lute is based on the intabulation by Francesco da Milano, who appears to have had some affinity for the piece as evidenced by the open partbook on the table in the [5]anonymous painting of 'Franco del Liuto' (Biblioteca Ambrosiana, Milan). The setting is performed on our six-course bass lute made by Sandi Harris & Stephen Barber. Please check out[6] our collection of singles, listen to samples and, for a limited time, we offer Quand' io pens' al martire at whatever price you choose. Please enjoy. Ron & Donna
